Liverpool lose to Monaco in Anfield friendly

Liverpool's pre-season preparations took a hit as they succumbed to a 3-2 defeat at the hands of Monaco in a friendly match at Anfield. The Reds had initially taken the lead through a Jordan Henderson strike in the 25th minute, but their advantage was doubled just before halftime when a well-placed header from Darwin Nunez found the back of the net.

However, Monaco began to show signs of life after the interval, and their pressure eventually paid off in the 65th minute when a Wissam Ben Yedder penalty levelled the scoreline. The French side continued to push forward, and their persistence was rewarded when Ben Yedder netted his second goal of the evening in the 75th minute to put Monaco ahead. Alexandre Phanichayakul sealed the win for the visitors with a late strike in the 88th minute.

The defeat marks the second consecutive game in which Liverpool have surrendered a two-goal lead, having previously fallen behind against Borussia Dortmund in a friendly match at the weekend. Jurgen Klopp's side will be looking to bounce back from this setback and get their pre-season campaign back on track ahead of the new season. The Reds have a number of upcoming friendlies, including a match against Strasbourg next week, as they continue to work towards a strong start to the campaign.

Despite the disappointing result, there were some encouraging signs for Liverpool's fans, particularly in the performances of their young players.
